Welcome to Kale! Your privacy is critically important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information about you when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service").

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in a few different ways:

• Information You Provide to Us: This includes information you submit when you create an account, such as your phone number, first and last name, username, and profile photo. You may also provide us with content you post to the Service (e.g., photos, captions, comments, and likes).
• Contacts Information: To help you connect with friends, we require access to your device's contacts list. We securely check the phone numbers from your contacts against our database to find your friends on Kale. We never store your full contacts list on our servers, and we will never message or spam your contacts.
• Information We Collect Automatically: When you use the Service, we automatically collect certain information, including log data (like your IP address, device information) and usage information (like the features you use and the time you spend on them). We use services like Firebase for this purpose.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve our Service.
• Help you find and connect with people you know.
• Personalize your experience by showing you content from the people you follow.
• Monitor and analyze trends and usage to ensure the security of our platform.
• Communicate with you, including sending you notifications (which you can control) and responding to your support requests.

3. How We Share Your Information

We may share information about you as follows:

• With Other Kale Users: Your profile information (name, username, photo) and the content you post are visible to other users. When you follow someone, they are notified.
• With Service Providers: We use third-party vendors and service providers, such as Firebase (a Google company), to provide services like authentication, data storage, and analytics. These providers only have access to your information to perform these tasks on our behalf.
• For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if we believe that it's reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.

4. Your Choices & Control

You have control over your information:

• Account Information: You can access and edit most of your basic account information directly in the app.
• Deleting Your Account: You can delete your account at any time from the app's settings. When you delete your account, we will delete your profile and the content you have posted, such as your photos and comments, and you will not be able to recover this information later.

5. Children’s Privacy

Our Service is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information from our files as soon as possible.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we do, we will let you know by revising the date at the top of the policy and, in some cases, we may provide you with additional notice (such as adding a statement to our homepage or sending you a notification).
